Webster defines "theatre" as a structure or area for dramatic performances. Any theatrical enthusiast, whether performer or theatre-goer knows that it is so much more. For the performer, it is a unique form of self-expression. For the audience, it is a departure from the real world into fantastic imagination. Whether a glitzy, high-profile Broadway show to a small town community theatre presentation, it seems that something magical always happens when the spotlight hits the stage.
While great performers and a great production team can put on an excellent theatrical performance with very little frills, a theatre always has needs. From everything the audience sees on the stage, to all that goes on behind the scenes, it takes an amazing effort to organize even a small show.
From lighting and set design to make-up and props, there are so many things to be taken into consideration when organizing a theatrical production. And then there is the budget, which is almost always smaller than desired. Whatever the limitations, if the cast and production team are committed to the overall vision and message of the performance, the audience will surely find it unforgettable.
