Theatre Scripts

Every production needs a theatre script. The script is the foundation of the entire production. Whether you are looking for a well-known and beloved story or something edgy and modern, the script is where actors look for their first glimpse of the character they are portraying. Reading through the script for the first time is when ideas run wild; from stage set-up to character dynamics, it gets the creative juices flowing.

Choosing a script involves knowing your target audience and what captivates them. Children of course, often are most intrigued by fairy tales and fantasy for example.  Most classic screenplays and scripts are so because they appeal to a very wide range of audiences, contributing to their popularity.

Selecting an appropriate script also involves knowing the resources available to the production. A small-budgeted project would not be suited to a script which requires elaborate costumes and scenery, unless of course these items can be made by members of the production team at a reasonable cost. Human resources need also be considered. A script that requires a very large cast may not be feasible for a small theater group.
